Pune: Savitribai Phule Pune University’s (SPPU) Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA) has started a BBA course in Hospitality and Facilities Management (HFM) from 2018-19 academic year.
“It is a first of its kind course as none of the courses provided in institutions, which cater to hospitality services, have emphasised on facilities management. They only provide hotel management courses so far. Looking at the trends of OYO, Air BNB and other groups, which provide hotel rooms, and also those like government’s guest houses, etc., there is a need for personnel who can manage facilities provided by them. Facilities include several services like maintenance, event management, even service apartments, cruise and casinos. Considering this, there was a need to have a course like this and it will attract many students,” said Head of PUMBA Prafulla Pawar.
The intake capacity of the course is 40 seats out of which 50 per cent will be filled as per statutory reservations from Maharashtra. Remaining seats will be filled by open category inclusive of 3 per cent reservation, i.e. one seat, for physically challenged candidate. The university has directed that all reserved category candidates should submit a copy of caste certificate and caste validity certificate at the time of the application.
Application fees for open category candidates is Rs 500 and for reserved category candidates is Rs 350. Candidates should print a challan and pay the fees before the due date, which will be printed on the fees challan. The forms can be submitted on all working days between 11 am to 5 pm.
