Pune: A resident of Nisarg Society, Kaspate Vasti, Wakad got a fully grown neem tree cut without permission of the Tree Authority. Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Garden Superintendent Prakash Gaikwad said, “Strict action would be taken against the person responsible for tree cutting without due permission.”
Yogesh Pawar, who lives in row house number 16 at Nisarg Society 1, heard a loud noise of axing of a fully grown neem tree on Sunday in his neighbour Debabatra Sikdar’s backyard.
Pawar said, “Within no time, half of the tree fell in my backyard damaging the wall and the MNGL pipeline.”
He said, “There was a discussion on the society’s WhatsApp group about trimming of trees because there was a mosquito problem. Later, a whole tree was cut with permission granted by society chairman Rajeshri Bedadde. Yuvraj Bhamare, a resident of the society, along with a few hired labourers were present while cutting the tree.”
Pawar said the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Garden Department sent Tree Authority officials to check and conduct the panchnama.
Gaikwad said, “Pawar has lodged a complaint against the society members, who went ahead and cut the tree. We checked with our office and did not find any request for tree cutting. They have cut the tree without permission.
We have filed a case against them and they will be called to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation court. They will be fined Rs 5,000.”
