The festival is being seen as an attempt by the NCP to not only come out of its Maratha-centric image but also an attempt to connect to the Dalit pockets in the Khadakwasla-Warje-Malwadi area which also comes under the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency.

PUNE: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) organised a Bhim Festival in the city recently to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar. The programme was held on the Warje-Malwadi Market premises.

The programme was organised by the Pawar Charitable Trust and attended by Baramati MP Supriya Sule and former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar. Many activists and leaders were awarded 'Bhim Bhushan' award and a special 'Bhim Ratna' award. Popular singer Adarsh Shinde performed at the programme.

The festival is being seen as an attempt by the NCP to not only come out of its Maratha-centric image but also an attempt to connect to the Dalit pockets in the Khadakwasla-Warje-Malwadi area which also comes under the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency.
