Pune: While the agitation of Dhangar and Maratha communities for reservation has intensified, the Muslim community too has come forward to demand reservation. Muslim Muk Mahamorcha Coordination Committee announced that a protest march will be organised on September 9.

Simran Qureshi, Corporator Gafur Pathan, Rahul Dambale and Anjum Inamdar conducted a presser on Monday to announce the same. Qureshi said, “The government should continue the 5 per cent reservation to Muslims, rather than giving its benefit to just a section. It should also safeguard our community under atrocity law. We have decided to organise a peaceful march from Golibar Maidan to Divisional Commissioner’s office.”

She said, “Political leaders remember Muslims only in elections. After polls, they forget us deliberately. Youths are facing injustice and leaders are keeping mum. Now, time has come to make a policy for Muslims.”
