Murthy awarded Jeevan Sadhana Gaurav Puraskar

Pune: The Jeevan Sadhana Gaurav Puraskar was conferred upon the co-founder of Infosys, NR Narayana Murthy, recognising his work and contribution in the field of information technology, on Tuesday. He was felicitated by the Department of Computer Science, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) on the eve of Prof Dr HV Sahasrabuddhe's 75th birthday, at Dyaneshwar Sabhagruha.

Pune: The Jeevan Sadhana Gaurav Puraskar was conferred upon the co-founder of Infosys, NR Narayana Murthy, recognising his work and contribution in the field of information technology, on Tuesday. He was felicitated by the Department of Computer Science, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) on the eve of Prof Dr HV Sahasrabuddhe's 75th birthday, at Dyaneshwar Sabhagruha.

While speaking about his mentor, Murthy said, "Sahasrabuddhe helped me to make the right decision and showed me the right path during the initial days of my career. He is the reason why I am here." 

He further added that since Sahasrabuddhe was just a year senior to him in academics, he could give Murthy the best advice to focus on learning and not on salary.

"This is how I realised the importance of customer satisfaction, an important aspect of any company," Murthy said.

Among the dignitaries who were present were Ram Takawale (eminent educationist), Dr NR Karmalkar, VC, SPPU, Dr NS Umrani, Pro-VC, SPPU and Sahasrabuddhe.
