This is second time that Tukaram Munde has taken such a step asking workers union to vacate the office. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Workers’ Union office was sealed within two months after Tukaram Munde joined the office. The NCP union office was located at the store department of the main building.

PUNE: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) Chairman and Managing Director Tukaram Mundhe issued a notice on Monday to Indian National Tread Union Congress (INTUC) to vacate their office within 15 days or the office will be sealed.

The notice has created ripples among members of various unions functioning at PMPML including INTUC.

This is the second time, Mundhe has taken steps asking a workers union to vacate the office. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Workers’ Union office was sealed within two months after Mundhe took over.

This office was located at the Store Department of the main building.

Mundhe issued the notice to the union and on getting no response, he ordered it be sealed. This decision was opposed by the union. But administration was firm that the building will be used only for administrative purposes.

Meanwhile, INTUC has refused to take the notice, claiming the office was given to INTUC on 99 years lease in 1959 and this agreement was made as per the Industrial Disputes Act. It would be against the law, if the agreement is violated midway, the union claimed. “We have decided to take a legal course against the notice,” said Rajendra Kharade, President, INTUC.

The INTUC office is located on the ground floor of a building adjacent to PMPML main building.
The PMPML has given this entire six-storeyed building to the Income Tax Department on rent.
