Multi-branded restaurant to open at Pune airport in 3rd week of July
The passengers at Pune airport will soon get to enjoy food of various branded restaurants in the terminal building. The restaurant was closed for maintenance for past six months but now will be re-opened in the third week of July.
Pune: The passengers at Pune airport will soon get to enjoy food of various branded restaurants in the terminal building. The restaurant was closed for maintenance for past six months but now will be re-opened in the third week of July.
Ajay Kumar, Director, Pune airport, told Sakal Times, “The restaurant was closed for maintenance but now it will be available for the passengers from middle of this month. We have increased the sitting capacity from 100 to 150. Apart from this, we are also going to open executive lounge within next two months.”
The new restaurant will have branded food outlets like KFC, Bakers Street, Punjab Grill, Subway and also a bar. Earlier, the restaurant was set up on the first floor in a 250 square metre area. The authority has redeveloped it in an area of 500 square metre. The passengers can enjoy different kinds of food inside the terminal building. Rs 4 crore was spent for the redevelopment. “When the restaurant was closed six months ago, many passengers were complaining on social media that the airport authority closed it down. But actually we were redeveloping it. Currently, there are 12 food outlets at the airport.
Now fliers can enjoy a variety of food,” said an officer on condition of anonymity.
About to open very soon
The Pune airport will have an executive lounge inside the terminal building. This will be like a VIP lounge. According to the officials, “The new executive lounge will be available within two months. A flier can pay and use it. They will get everything from tea to soft drink, food, and drinks (beer). The tender is awarded to New Delhi based Bird Catering and Lounges.”
New baby feeding unit
On Saturday, a new baby feeding unit was opened inside the terminal building at departure two. Regional Executive Director Keshav Sharma inaugurated the baby feeding unit. Ajay Kumar said, “We already have a baby feeding unit at the security hold area one and on Sunday we opened another feeding unit at departure 2. In this unit, at a time, two women can feed their babies. They can also change the diaper of the baby as well. Two more units at arrival and security hold area two will be open soon. The unit is provided by Gupte Hospital.”
