Pune: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is all set to ply extra buses on the occasion of Diwali. The officials vow to provide better facilities during the journey this year.
Srinivas Joshi, Divisional Controller, MSRTC, Pune, while speaking to media on Saturday, said, “We are here to provide better facilities during Diwali. We want more footfall of passengers than the previous year.”
According to him, last year, MSRTC, Pune division, earned Rs 3.4 crore from 2.6 lakh passengers travelling by MSRTC buses during the festival.
“Passengers can book their tickets online as well as through private agents. We have hired 25 private agents in different areas including Kothrud, Sadashiv Peth, Warje, Sinhgad Road, Chinchwad, Yerwada, Aundh, New Sanghwi, Dhanori Road and Wakad," said officials.
This year, around 2,658 buses will ply to different places across the State. During the festive season, MSRTC will ply buses to Marathwada, Khandesh and Vidharbha from October 14 to 18 and to Nashik and Aurangabad, the buses will run from October 15. Tickets can be booked online on www.msrtc.gov.in or at the reservation centres at the ST depots.
