MSRTC teams to keep watch at bus depots

After the incidents of fake conductor at Swargate depot, we have set up a team to keep a watch on the ticket windows for any suspicious movement of any person

Pune: After a fake conductor was nabbed by the Swargate police recently, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) of Pune division has set up a team to keep watch at all depots under their jurisdiction.

According to the officials, the team is closely watching the passengers coming and moving near ticket windows at all depots.

“After the incidents of fake conductor at Swargate depot, we have set up a team to keep a watch on the ticket windows for any suspicious movement of any person,” said an official of the department.

“The six-member team has been set up at Shivajinagar, Swargate and Pune station. Till now, we have caught three such fake conductors,” said Nitin Maind, Divisional Controller, Pune.

At present, around 16,500 MSRTC buses run on 18,700 routes in cities and rural parts of Maharashtra. There are 568 main state transport (ST) stands in Maharashtra, while more than 2,000 smaller stands from where these buses operate.
