MSEDCL nets Rs 177 crore through online bill payment

Pune: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has received Rs 176.94 crore through online bill payment by 9.52 lakh consumers in Pune region in August this year. The department has received Rs 47.50 crore more than November last year. Also, 2,28,591 consumers are connected with the online service.

At present, average 45 lakh single phase consumers are making online payments across the state per month. Out of this, 9.50 lakh consumers are in Pune region which is highest in the state, followed by Bhandup and Kalyan with average 6.75 and 7 lakh consumers.

In Pune city, around 5.64 lakh electricity consumers had paid Rs 100.41 crore bill, in Pimpri-Chinchwad 2.71 lakh consumers paid Rs 51 crore and in rural areas including Mulshi, Ambegaon, Junnar, Khed and Maval talukas around 1.17 lakh consumers paid Rs 25.48 crore electricity bill in August this year.

“The MSEDCL had introduced online payment in June 2016. Consumers are using net banking, credit or debit card, mobile wallet and cash card for payment. The numbers shows that consumes are easily using the online process. Now a days, there are no extra charges if paying online. But if the bill is above than Rs 500 and consumers are using net banking to pay, they have to pay charges as per the norms” said a senior officer of MSEDCL.
