MSEDCL claims to have achieved target of 100 pc electrification

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has released a statement claiming to have achieved the target of 100 per cent electrification of the State under the Saubhagya Yojna. 

Pune: Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has released a statement claiming to have achieved the target of 100 per cent electrification of the State under the Saubhagya Yojna. 

According to the statement released by MSEDCL, around 10.94 lakh households in the State have been electrified.
 
The deadline set by the company was December 31, 2018, but Mahavitaran claims to have achieved the target on December 27.

According to the statement, beneficiary households were identified using the SECC (Socio, Economic and Caste Census) 2011 database. All these beneficiaries have already been provided electricity. Amongst the 10,93,614 households, 10,67,603 were given electricity connections through the traditional method and the remaining 26,011 through the Maharashtra Energy Development Authority (MEDA).

The eligible beneficiaries were provided internal wiring along with a charging point and a free LED bulb. In remote areas, where it was difficult to supply electricity through the traditional method, electricity connections were given through the solar power project. In such places, the beneficiaries were provided free internal wiring along with 1 DC fan, 5 LED bulbs and a DC charging point, the statement said.
