More number of murders recorded in city this year

Pune: With 12 persons murdered in Pune this month, the number has crossed the average number of murders taking place per month in the city.
 
As per the city police, the number of murders recorded per month reaches around 8 to 10. Apart from crimes like murder, the city has also recorded cases of shootouts, assaults, attempt to murder and others pointing at the spread of violence in the city. 

On Tuesday night, officials of the Crime Branch arrested a minor boy for murdering a 25-year-old youth in Laxmi Nagar area of Kothrud. The police said although the wedding of the deceased, Siddhappa Kalbandi, was fixed with a girl, he was calling the sister of the accused which the latter did not like. 

Following which, on Tuesday night at 9 pm, the accused hacked Siddhappa to death using a sharp weapon. 

In another murder case on Monday, officials of Sinhagad Road police arrested four minors who hacked a 27-year-old youth to death outside Fun Time Cinema. The police said there was a minor clash between the deceased and the accused persons on the night of December 31, 2018 which led to the murder. The deceased, Rohan Salvi, was attacked with sharp weapons by the accused which caused his death. 

The police officials said that most of the deceased in these murder cases are youths involved in disputes for petty issues. 

The murders have taken place under the jurisdiction of Yerawada, Dattawadi, Sinhagad Road, Hadapsar, Warje Malwadi, Lashkar, Alankar and Bund Garden police stations.
