Monsoon now in Pune

On Monday, Pune witnessed its first monsoon rain with various parts of the city experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall. Overall rain recorded in the city on Monday was 27 mm while  Lohegaon recorded 11 mm of rain, said India Meteorological Department (IMD).

With the onset of the monsoon, the highest maximum temperature in the State dropped to 37 degrees Celsius at Jalgaon and the lowest minimum temperature in the State was reported at 17.6 degrees Celsius at Mahabaleshwar on Monday.

Heavy rains are expected on June 13 at Konkan and Goa region, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. From June 14 to 16, Goa and Konkan regions may experience rain at isolated places. IMD officials said that conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, north interior Karnataka, some parts of Marathwada, Telangana and some more parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, central and north Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya and some parts of West Bengal, Sikkim and Odisha during next two to three days.

IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over Konkan and Goa till June 16. Marathwada may experience thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds and heavy rain.
