Pune: Theatre lovers, who want to expand their horizon, will get an opportunity to do so, as city-based Malayalee Literary and Cultural Malayalam Centre (MLCMC), Vakdevatha, has organised the third national-level Pravasi Malayalee Drama Competition on June 3 at Ankushrao Landge Auditorium, Bhosari. For the final list, 10 dramas will be selected from 32 applications received by the centre.
The national-level Malayalam drama competition will feature thespians from various cities of the country.
The competition will be inaugurated by Kerala Sahitya Academy award winner and Malayalam writer Shihabuddin Poythumkadavu. Corporator Babu Nair, Pune Malayali Federation General Secretary AK Japher, Malayalam Mission and Malayalam Bhoasha Samskarika Pracharana Sangham General Secretary KS Ravi, Saraswati Vishwa Vidyalayam Chairman K Vishwanathan Nair, Asian Engineering Group MD Xavier Joseph, Suvarna Group of Companies Chairman PI Varghese will be the guest of honours for the function.
The drama will start with the Rangapooja-Devarpanam by Sithara Arts directed by Sreejith Nair. There are a variety of entertainment programmes including folk songs, poetry, violin and many more. The winners of the drama competition will receive a specially designed Vakdevatha memento and a cash prize of Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000.
In addition to this, best director, best actor and best actress will also be given cash prize.
