Minor boy booked for rash driving after death of 75-year-old man

Pune: A 17-year-old boy, while riding a motorcycle, knocked down a senior citizen on Monday night, leading to his death. He was booked by the Kothrud police for rash and negligent driving. 

The deceased, Uttam Dandge (75) was crossing the road when he was hit by the Hero Splendor motorcycle, which the boy was riding. Dandge succumbed to head injuries at Sahyadri Hospital on Thursday night, following which the case was lodged.

The deceased, Uttam Dandge (75) was crossing the road when he was hit by the Hero Splendor motorcycle, which the boy was riding. Dandge succumbed to head injuries at Sahyadri Hospital on Thursday night, following which the case was lodged. 

Police Sub-Inspector Dattatreya Vanve of Kothrud police station said that the deceased worked as a watchman. "Dandge suffered multiple injuries which led to his death. We are analysing CCTV footages of the area to collect evidence. As the boy is 17 years old, he is not eligible to ride a motorcycle," added Vanve. 

The police said that the minor boy is yet to be detained in the case.
