“In order to make it convenient for the students, it has been suggested that the exam should be held online. It will be mostly held for 16 to 20 days between the second and third week of May 2019." said Anand Rayate, Commissioner of CET Cell.

PUNE: As like most of the entrance tests, the Maharashtra government is mulling upon conducting an online examination for State Common Entrance Test (CET)-2019 for engineering, pharmacy and agriculture, which is currently held offline.

Over four lakh students take the Common Entrance Test (CET) every year. The State CET Commission cell has called for opinions from students, teachers, experts and parents to understand the feasibility of taking up the online test for next year.

The Admissions Regulatory Authority has suggested that the exam authorities conduct the exam online.

“In order to make it convenient for the students, it has been suggested that the exam should be held online. It will be mostly held for 16 to 20 days between the second and third week of May 2019. Generally, the exam is held in May and results are declared before June 5 every year. However, keeping in mind the exam dates of all universities, the dates for CET will be declared accordingly,” said Anand Rayate, Commissioner of CET Cell.

“After analysing the opinions received from various stakeholders, the decision will be taken by the cell,” added Rayate.

The cell has already provided a questionnaire on their website. Students, parents, experts and teachers can give their opinions on CET Cell’s website www.mahacet.org. The last date to submit their opinions is November 15. This year, experts had expressed immense disappointment and raised questions on the way the MHT-CET papers were set.

ADVANTAGES OF ONLINE EXAM
- Students will be freely able to select their examination centre.
- According to the student’s convenience, he/she can choose the timing of taking the examination.
- This will bring more transparency in conducting the exam.
