Pune: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Tuesday, issued a warning that parts of north-central Maharashtra may witness thunderstorm accompanied with hailstorm on February 23. Also, places in central Maharashtra and Marathwada may experience thunderstorm accompanied with hailstorm on February 24.
The IMD also noted that sky in the city would remain clear during this time. Pune, in the next few days, may witness a maximum temperature of up to 33 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature up to 13 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday, Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 33.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 13.3 degrees Celsius.
The highest maximum temperature reported on Tuesday in the State was 37.7 degrees Celsius in Ahmednagar while the lowest minimum temperature was reported at 11.8 degrees Celsius in Nashik.
The lowest minimum temperature recorded across the country was recorded at 7.8 degrees Celsius in Amritsar in Punjab. Dense to very dense fog was observed in Karnal in Haryana. Shallow to moderate fog was observed in Kolkata, Bareilly in west Uttar Pradesh, north Delhi in Haryana, Ludhiana and Amritsar in Punjab and Ratnagiri in Konkan and Goa in the morning hours on Tuesday.
The IMD predicted that thunderstorm accompanied with hailstorm is likely to occur at isolated places over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on February 22. Also, rain or snow is likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir on February 24. A thunderstorm accompanied by hailstorm is likely at isolated places over west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu division, Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh during the same time.
