Members of Rajput Manch organise cleanliness drive at Bopdev Ghat

PUNE: Members of Rajput Samaj Seva Manch have initiated a cleanliness drive at Bopdev Ghat from March 24.

This cleanliness drive is held every Sunday with the aim to clean the seven-kilometre stretch of Bopdev Ghat in a period of six months. Volunteers of the Samaj have already cleaned  a one-kilometre stretch and collected almost two-and-a-half tonnes of garbage from that area.

President of the Samaj Subhash Pardeshi said, “Bopdev Ghat is one of Pune’s entry points and we stay in a nearby colony of Rajput community. It has become very dirty as garbage was lying there and nobody paid attention to it. We decided to clean it because if we won’t contribute towards our environment, then how  will we survive?”

“We are also planning a plantation drive at Bopdev Ghat after completing the cleanliness drive. Trees are the only alternative to save the environment so that our future generation can survive,” he added.
