Pune: Vijay K Nambiar appealed to the leaders in society to use meditation to succeed in the competitive and changing world. He was delivering the keynote address at the ‘Power of IAM Leaders Conclave’ Pune jointly organised by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kerala and the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Pune on Saturday at Sheraton Grand, Pune. The conclave addressed the importance for leaders in varied fields to prioritize self-empowerment through meditation amidst their busy work lives.

Vijay K Nambiar, former UN Secretary General’s Special Advisor on Myanmar and Chef de Cabinet under former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, delivered the keynote address. He talked about how leaders should be able to build the ability to face disruption constructively. He added that the Integrated Amrita Meditation (IAM) technique that embodies the universal compassion of its creator Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi would help leaders build the capacity to be centred in a strong core. 

Dr Vijay P Bhatkar, architect of India’s national initiative in supercomputing and Chancellor of Nalanda University offered felicitations. Dr Bhatkar affirmed the fact that yoga and meditation have been a way of life for thousands of years in India. Br Nijamrita Chaitanya, Head, Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Delhi introduced the Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique to the participants. 

A panel discussion on ‘Meditation as a tool for Self-Empowerment of Leaders’ was chaired by Dr Shanti Kumar Nair, Dean of Research, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Director, Amrita Centre for Nano Sciences and Molecular Medicine where leaders discussed concrete and measurable actions that they could take to kick-start a meditation practice amidst their busy schedules.

Air Marshal CK Ranjan, AVSM, VSM, Director & Commandant, Armed Forces Medical College; Ajay Kumar, Airport Director; Bhausaheb Patil, Director (Operations), Sakal Media Group; Pushkaraj Chirputkar, Actor; Anjali Bhagwat, professional Indian shooter; and Rekha Dubey, CEO, Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital; Dhananjay Kumar, Director Business Development, Thor Power Corporation were some among who attended the event. Br Avyamrita Chaitanya, Head, Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Mumbai gave away certificates to the guests.
