MAVA organises film festival Samabhav

The purpose of the fest is to generate a healthy and engaging conversation amongst the college and university students, faculty, representative of several NGOs, cine-loversetc.

PUNE: In a first of its kind, Samabhav - a film festival on gender, masculinity and relationship has been organised by Men Against Violence and Abuse (MAVA) and Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) at main theatre of FTII on Law College road from January 19-20.  The festival has so far travelled to five cities, two districts of Maharashtra and will now be travelling to Pune, Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Sangli and Kolhapur. 

An interactive session of film directors, social activists, academicians and mediapersons with over 200 attendees has also been arranged. Over 18 films will be broadcasted during the two-day festival. The purpose of the fest is to generate a healthy and engaging conversation amongst the college and university students, faculty, representative of several NGOs, cine-loversetc. 

MAVA has pioneered efforts in India to engage men to address issues of gender inequality by interrogating the existing dominant model of masculinity and help stop prevent gender-based violence against women.
