Pune: Mahametro officials have unveiled the master plan for the station which will come up opposite the civil court in Shivajinagar and will be a meeting point of all three metro lines in the city. Atul Gadgil, Mahametro Executive Director, said the area will house a 160m tall commercial hub, metro office, parking areas and area for the feeder bus service. Gadgil said that Hinjawadi-Hadapsar metro will pass via civil court route along with other two routes of Vanaz-Ramwadi and Nigdi-Swargate.

Gadgil said that the area will comprise around 48,000 square metres, of which 21,000 square metre land is yet to be acquired. “The area to be acquired consists of slums and Mahametro will have to design the rehabilitation plan for the affected people. We will also build our office along with command and control centre of metro in the same area,” added Gadgil.

He said that to provide last mile connectivity to commuters, Mahametro will provide bus feeder service which will operate in the 2 km periphery of the civil court station. “For the success of metro project, bus feeder service for last mile connectivity hold relevance,” added Gadgil.

Mahametro and Pune Municipal Corporation will soon organise foundation stone-laying ceremony for the 700 metre-long two-level deck near Nal Stop by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The deck will start near SNDT College and will end near Indian oil petrol pump.

Speaking on the work of metro on the river bed, Gadgil said that work has been stopped as of now due to rains and Mahametro is in contact with the irrigation department so that they can resume the work soon.
