Master’s in Biodiversity entrance on June 20

Pune: The entrance examination for Masters course in Biodiversity-Monitoring and Utilisation, at MES Abasaheb Garware College will take place on June 20 and the last date to fill the form is June 19. It is a two-year full-time course running for over a decade. 

Conducted at Annasaheb Kulkarni Department of Biodiversity, Garware College puts emphasis on practical learning. The syllabus incorporates all aspects of biodiversity from animals to microbes; their interrelationships with the environment and their evolutionary aspects. It includes technical subjects including research methodology, molecular tools, GIS, biostatistics and bioinformatics. Introduction to environment law, conservation biology, environmental restoration are included. 

The revised syllabus has ‘Biodiversity Internship’ through which students can spend quality time in research institutes, NGOs, departments and learn about the advancement under expert guidance. 

The eligibility for this course is Bachelor in - Science (Botany/ Zoology/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Environmental Science/ Life Science/ Geography/ Geology/ Chemistry/ Statistics/ Physics) / Agriculture / Fisheries / Pharmacy / Forestry / Medicine / Engineering (any branch) with minimum 50% marks at BSc (45% marks for reserved category).  The department is a recognised PhD Centre for Environmental Sciences of Savitribai Phule Pune University.
