Marathon held to mark World Day Against Child Labour

Pune: To mark the World Day Against Child Labour on June 12, Hope for the Children Foundation organised a marathon at Kalyaninagar on Sunday morning. Many young and old citizens enthusiastically participated in the marathon to run for a cause.

Talking about the initiative and the cause, Founder and CEO of Hope for the Children Foundation Caroline Audoir de Valter said that this event is an initiative to commemorate and support the World Day Against Child Labour.

“We at Hope for the Children Foundation believe that all children should be given an opportunity to be educated, which will be a means to eradicate poverty and child labour. Every year since 2011, our foundation takes up the cause and spreads awareness among common people on child labour issue. This is the sixth consecutive year and we look forward to engage more people to stop the scourge of child labour,” added Valter.

She further added that more than 10 doctors on the field supported the runners. “The participants were present from all over Maharashtra. It was nice to see Pune coming together. There was gratitude among people and they also gave very strong feedback, making the overall experience very amazing,” mentioned Valter. Speaking during the marathon, Ashutosh Joshi said that the cause is enough to motivate the participants and make this marathon a success.

“Running for your health is something everyone does. But here, the participants are running for a cause. World Day Against Child Labour is celebrated all across the world on June 12 and here we are just taking a small initiative to spread the word. I feel very proud to say that over 40 participants are running today and people of various ages are participating for the cause,” added Joshi. Cafe Manta and the Little Next Door were also partners of this event.
