Manache Ganpati mandals all ready for Ganesh Chaturthi
The city is the pioneer of ‘Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav’. The festival kicks off once the five ‘Manache Ganpati’ idols are installed in their pandals following traditional rituals.
Pune: The city is the pioneer of ‘Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav’. The festival kicks off once the five ‘Manache Ganpati’ idols are installed in their pandals following traditional rituals.
The first Ganpati procession is of Kasba Ganpati Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal which is the ‘Gramdevta’ (village deity) its history stretches back to 400 years.
Shrikant Shete, President of the mandal said, “The procession will begin at 8.25 am on September 13, the Ganesh Chaturthi day. Two dhol tasha pathaks including Avartan and Shriram Dhol Tasha Pathak will perform during the procession. The procession will begin from Kasba Peth to Appa Balwant Chowk, then through Tambdi Jogeshwari Road to Kamalwada and then back along the same route to Kasba Peth.”
“The pranpratishtha, i.e. the installation of the idol will be done by Bhaiyyaji Joshi, RSS Sarkaryavah (General Secretary) at 11.25 am,” Shete said.
The second Manacha Ganpati is Tambdi Jogeshwari Ganpati. Rajesh Tikkar, President of Tambadi Jogeshwari Ganeshotsav Mandal, said, “We are celebrating 126 years this year. The pranpratishtha puja will begin at 10 am. The procession will start from Narayan Peth to Kelkar Road, then towards Kunthe Chowk to Laxmi Road and then from Ganpati Chowk till Jogeshwari pandal.”
“Nagada will be played by Aadhav Bandhu, New Gandharva Brass Band, Shivmudra Dhol Tasha Pathak, Taal Dhol Tasha Pathak and Vishnu Naad Shankh Pathak during the procession. The Ganpati’s pranpratishtha will be done by a prominent builder of the city, Amol Ravetkar of the Ravetkar Group,” Tikekar added.
The third Manacha Ganpati is Guruji Talim Ganpati. Pravin Pardeshi, President of Guruji Talim Ganpati said, “This year we are completing 132 years. At 10 am, the procession will begin from Ganpati Chowk and will head towards City Post Chowk via Limraj Maharaj Chowk, Appa Balwant Chowk, Budhwar Chowk and will head back from the same route.”
“Nagada will be played by Jain Nagarkar. The dhol tasha pathaks include Nadbrambhama, Garjana, Guruji Pratishthan, Shiv Rudra Dhol Tasha Pathak coming from Saswad and Nadbramha Trust. The Ganpati idol will be carried in a flower rath. The installation of the idol will be done by one of the prominent entrepreneurs Aditya Sharma along with his wife,” Pardeshi added.
The fourth Manacha Ganpati is Tulshibaug Ganpati. Neeraj Khatavkar, President of Tulsibaug Ganpati Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, said, “At 9.30, the pranpratishtha procession will begin from Ganpati Chowk, head towards City Post Chowk via Nagarkar Talim Chowk, Appa Balwant Chowk, Budhwar Chowk and Dagdusheth Mandir. The procession will then head back along the same route. At 11.30 am the installation of the idol will be done by Janmejayraje Bhosale, founder president of Shri Swami Samarth Annachhatra Mandal, Akkalkot.”
“Lonkar Bandhu will play Nagada during the procession, accompanied by three dhol tasha pathaks,” Khatavkar added.
The fifth Manacha Ganpati is Kesariwada Ganpati. Rohit Tilak, great-grandson of Lokmanya Tilak and Managing Trustee of Kesariwada, said, “This year we will be completing 125 years. At 10 am the pranpratishtha procession will start from Ramanbaug Chowk and arrive at Kesariwada via Laxmi Road, Vijaya Talkies Chowk and Maruti Ganpati Road. At 11.30 am the idol will be installed in the utsav pandal and the pranpratishtha puja will be done by me along with Deepak Tilak, Praniti Rohit Tilak and Geetali Mone Tilak.”
