Man shot dead by bike-borne assailants in Sanaswadi

Pune: A 26-year-old man was allegedly shot dead in broad daylight by two motorcycle-borne assailants in Sanaswadi village of Shirur taluka on Friday. Prima facie, it is believed that the victim was murdered over an illicit relationship or financial dealings, the police said.

The deceased was identified as Gangaram Dasarwad, a native of Nanded, who used to work at Sanaswadi. Dasarwad was a supplier of chapatis to canteens of companies located at Sanaswadi.

According to the Pune (Rural) police, the incident occurred at around 11 am. Mohammad Suvez Haque, Superintendent of Police, Pune (Rural) Police, said, “The identity of the assailants is unknown. They fled from the spot after committing the crime. Initial investigations indicate that the victim was murdered over an illicit relationship or financial dealings. We are investigating the matter and will arrest the culprits soon.” He added, “This incident doesn’t have any kind connection with the Koregaon-Bhima unrest.”
