Man held at Pune airport for smuggling gold

The Customs department is further investigating the case.

Pune: Officials of the Customs department arrested a man for allegedly smuggling gold after his arrival at Pune airport on Wednesday.

As per information given by Assistant Commissioner of Customs DS Maan, gold worth Rs 11.70 lakh, which was concealed in the inner lining of his waist belt, was recovered from the accused Mohammed Rafeeq, who hails from Kerala. 

The metal was in the form of a paste. Officials from Customs department said that in the last three days, they have arrested two persons for smuggling gold with similar modus operandi.

The Customs department is further investigating the case.
