Man held for minor’s rape

Dayanand Dhome, Police Inspector at Chatuhshrungi police station, said, “The incident came to light when the little girl came back home and her parents saw the injury marks on her nose. When she was taken to the hospital, she revealed to the doctor that she was sexually abused by the accused.”

Pune: In a shocking incident, a three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old youth in Pashan on Saturday. The police have arrested the accused, who was an acquaintance of the girl’s family.

The arrested accused has been identified as Shambhu Kumar Rai, a resident of Someshwarwadi, in Pashan. Rai, who is a native of Madhubani district, was familiar with the family of the girl and took advantage of the situation.

According to the Chatuhshrungi police station, the accused took the minor along with her on the pretext of giving her snacks on Saturday evening. However, he then took her behind a tree, near Tapas Old Age Home in Someshwarwadi and sexually abused her. The accused also inflicted injuries on the nose of the girl.

The police arrested the accused immediately after the incident and was remanded in police custody till September 27 by the court. The accused has been booked under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act.
