Man held for defaming female colleague on FB

Pune: A 42-year-old man has been nabbed by the Cyber Cell of Pune city police for allegedly defaming his female colleague after creating several fake accounts in her name on Facebook. 

The accused has been identified as Neil George, a resident of Wanawadi. The woman from Hadapsar had approached the Cyber Cell after she learnt about her fake accounts. A team led by Police Inspector Radhika Phadke investigated the case under supervision of DCP (Cyber crime & EOW) Jyotipriya Singh. 

Police officials said that the accused had illegally accessed her email account and downloaded her photos. He used them to create several fake accounts on Facebook. He had also sent messages to the wife of the complainant’s male friend, which created a rift between them. It was then that the woman lodged a complaint. After preliminary enquiry, the police traced the accused, who was identified as George. The police said that during interrogation accused told them that he used to like her but she had rejected his advances.Hence to take revenge, he created her fake accounts on Facebook.
