Man held for attempting to kidnap minor girl

The arrested accused has been identified as Mahesh Oblesh Maliyar, a resident of Aklekar in Andhra Pradesh. Rani Rupesh Pillai lodged the FIR against him.

Pune: A 30-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh has been arrested by the Khadki police for allegedly trying to kidnap one minor girl in Bopodi. Police suspect that the accused might be part of a child lifting gang and wanted the girls to be taken to Andhra Pradesh to force them into begging. 

The arrested accused has been identified as Mahesh Oblesh Maliyar, a resident of Aklekar in Andhra Pradesh. Rani Rupesh Pillai lodged the FIR against him.

The arrested accused has been identified as Mahesh Oblesh Maliyar, a resident of Aklekar in Anandpur district of Andhra Pradesh. Rani Rupesh Pillai (28) has lodged the FIR against him.

According to police, the incident took place at around 7.30 pm on Friday in Bopodi. Rani’s six-year-old daughter and her sister’s seven-year-old daughter were playing outside the house. The accused gagged Rani’s daughter and tried to flee after lifting her. After hearing the commotion, Rani and her sister came out, chased the accused and caught him with the help of another passer-by. Later he was handed over to police.
