The complainant, a resident of Katraj, works as a security guard with an educational institute in Kothrud. As per the FIR registered with Bharati Vidyapeeth police, the incident took place between July and October last year. The man, who is married, read an advertisement in a Marathi newspaper about a part time club providing services to women.

He contacted the given numbers and he was asked to deposit Rs 500 for registration. After he deposited the amount, the fraudsters asked him to pay various charges and he paid a total of Rs 33,000. Twice, he was promised that a girl would come to pick him up, but it never happened.

The complainant didn't learn lessons from this and sent Rs 10,000 to another club later after reading an advertisement in the same newspaper. A police officer told Sakal Times, "He was looking to earn fast cash and went on transferring money by taking a loan."
