Man cheats an elderly woman of Rs 28.84 lakh

According to police, the 62-year-old complainant was looking for a person to look after his elderly aunt. The accused, who is into housekeeping services, told him that he also provides services to senior citizens.

PUNE: An elderly woman was duped of Rs 28.84 lakh by a man who was working as her caretaker. The woman’s relative has lodged an FIR in this regard with Kondhwa police station. 

According to police, the 62-year-old complainant was looking for a person to look after his elderly aunt. The accused, who is into housekeeping services, told him that he also provides services to senior citizens. However, under the pretext of looking after his aunt, the accused had withdrawn Rs 28.84 lakh from the pension account of his aunt. The incident took place between April 2014 and June 2018.

Police have registered the case for offences under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
