Pune: A 31-year-old techie fooled authorities at the Pune airport with a fake ticket, to see off his departing girlfriend. After a complaint from airline officials, police registered a case against him and arrested him on Sunday. He was released on bail on Monday.

As per the FIR registered by a supervisor of Indigo Airlines with Vimantal police station, the incident took place at around 2 pm on Sunday. The techie had entered the airport premises as his girlfriend was going from Pune to Kolkata. He tampered his girlfriend’s e-ticket by adding his name and fictitious PNR no.

After his friend departed, he approached the airline’s supervisor, saying he is not feeling well and wants to go out of the airport. When the supervisors checked his ticket details, it was found to be fake. The officer called in the Central Industrial Security Force who handed him over to local police.

Assistant Police Inspector Dileep Jaysingkar, who is investigating the case, told Sakal Times, “During investigation, nothing serious was found. He had got emotional and wanted to see off his female friend at the airport.”

Earlier in March last year, a 26-year-old chartered accountancy student had forged an old IndiGo flight ticket to bid goodbye to his girlfriend.
