Pune: 23 people were duped by a fraudster of Rs 5.17 lakh on the pretext of arranging a pilgrimage tour. 

A case in this regard was registered at Market Yard police station.

The fraud came to light after it was reported to the police by the complainant Ashish Gujrati and others.

The police registered a case of cheating against one Ashutosh, who duped the complainant’s mother and 22 others on the pretext of sending them on a piligrimage tour to Kashi and other pilgrimage destinations.

According to the Market Yard police, the accused introduced himself as a tour manager and took around Rs 5.17 lakh from the complainant and others to arrange a trip for them. But after taking money he did not arrange for the trip and fled.
