Man arrested for posting obscene pictures on Facebook

Pune: The cyber crime cell of Pune police has arrested a man for posting obscene messages and pictures on the Facebook wall of a woman using a fake account.

Identifying the accused as Aniket Dongre, 30, a resident of Panditwada in Kasba Peth, the police informed that he created a fake account in the name of Mady Dsouza and sent obscene messages and pictures to her.

The matter was reported to the cyber crime cell by the complainant after she started receiving obscene posts on her account on a regular basis.

Jyoti Priya Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, EOW and Cyber Crime Cell, said, “We carried out an investigation and discovered that Dongre was the neighbour of the girl. He was posting obscene messages to her with the intention to defame her. We arrested him and handed him over to the Faraskhana police.”

The police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the IPC and section 66 of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
