Major fire in Ambedkarnagar slums

Pune: Several houses were gutted in a major fire in Ambedkarnagar slums in Market Yard area. The mishap took place on Saturday morning. There have been several cylinder blasts in the highly congested locality.

After getting information around 10.26 am, Fire Brigade officials rushed to the area and have roped in 14 fire tenders and three water tankers. 

Central Fire station Divisional Fire Officer Sunil Gilbile told Sakal Times, "As per preliminary report, there is no casualty or injury to people. We are trying to control the fire."

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) chief fire officer Prashant Ranpise alongwith 70 staffs are engaged in dousing fire. Several private water tankers and ambulances are also stationed there.

Update: The fire is now under control. Cooling attempts ongoing.
