MahaMetro taking steps for traffic management
Pune: Officials of the MahaMetro on Monday said that they are taking adequate measures and are working in tandem with the traffic department to smoothen the city traffic at places where the traffic is impacted due to the ongoing work of metro project in the city.
MahaMetro officials said that the work for making the two-deck flyover next to Nal Stop on Karve Road will start soon and MahaMetro along with the traffic department are working on various possible
traffic diversions in the area to avoid inconvenience to people.
Officials said that traffic diversion will be implemented between SNDT Chowk and Athwale Chowk-Abhinav Chowk. Officials said they are trying two options like one by implementing two-way traffic on Karve Road from Abhinav Chowk to SNDT Chowk and another by implementing rotary traffic between SNDT Chowk-Athwale Chowk-Abhinav Chowk. MahaMetro has also deployed four traffic marshals at Nal Stop.
Additional 15 traffic marshals will be deployed at various locations during the mock drill and implementation of traffic diversions during the construction of the flyover.
To control the traffic on Karve Road and Paud Road, MahaMetro has also provided four towing vans and four cranes to Kothrud, Deccan and Shivajinagar traffic department. Also 25 traffic marshals have been provided
to Kothrud and Deccan traffic department and 10 to Shivajinagar traffic department. Similarly, to manage traffic issues on Pimpri-Shivajinagar route, 30 traffic marshals will be deployed on the route round the clock. MahaMetro has also placed barricades, sign boards and electronic display boards on the route.
