Maha Metro officials answer citizens’ queries

He was speaking at Metro Samvaad, a citizens’ meet at Yashwantrao Chavan Sabhagruha in Kothrud. The meet was organised by Maha Metro and Murlidhar Mohol, Standing Committee Chairman, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The meet was organised to share the details and progress of Metro in the city. The work of Vanaz to Ramwadi Metro has already begun at Vanaz, Kothrud.

Pune Mayor Mukta Tilak, Pune Municipal Commissioner Kunal Kumar, Executive Director of Maha Metro Ramnath Subramaniam, Leader of House Shrinath Bhimale, City Engineer of PMC Prashant Waghmare and ACP (Traffic Division) Jayashree Gaikwad were also present on the occasion.

“Considering the continuously expanding cities, it is necessary to focus more on public transport. I am glad to say that as compared to the other cities, the progress of Metro has been much faster in Pune now,” Limaye said.

Through his presentation, Limaye gave information about the two routes - PCMC to Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi, proposed parking lots, stations, foot over bridges, and also further expansion plans.

Earlier, Ramnath Subramaniam said, “As the work near Vanaz has already begun, we have set up guidance centres on Vanaz to Ramwadi route, so as to help the citizens with their issues and queries related to the project. A troupe of retired police officials from traffic division has been formed to patrol along the route. We have also formed a rapid action force.”

Speaking at the occasion, Mayor Tilak said that while some people were sceptical about whether we should have a Metro or Shivsrushti, it is possible to have both and that people are working to find a solution on it.
Pune Municipal Commissioner Kunal Kumar said, “In order to succeed in the Smart City Mission, it is necessary to find a solution towards the traffic problem in the city. Passengers are the focal point of the
Metro project.”
