MACT awards Rs 13.42L to mishap victim’s kin

On April 11, 2016, Rajendra was travelling on his motorcycle when he came in front of the residence of MLA Girish Bapat in Shaniwar Peth. A Scooty rammed into his motorcycle and he succumbed to his injuries on the next day in a private hospital. 

PUNE: Two persons have been ordered to pay a compensation of Rs 13.42 lakh to family members of a 53-year-old man who died in an accident in 2016.

Deceased Rajendra Pol of Hingne Khurd worked as a supervisor with a private firm and earned Rs 14,800 per month. His wife Rohini (47) and children Sanket (22) and Ritu (18) had moved the Motor Accident Claim Tribunal (MACT) demanding compensation from Jayesh Suresh Tanna of Market Yard and Vidya Tandale of Bund Garden.

The opposite parties claimed that Rajendra was driving rashly. However, the FIR against them had accused them of rash driving. MACT member 

V K Kadam ordered Tanna and Tandale to jointly pay Rs 13.42 lakh jointly with nine per cent interest since filling of the claim petition in November 2016.
