Pune: The only flight of Lufthansa airlines from Pune to Frankfurt, which connects the city to other European countries, will be resumed from October 29. The service was discontinued from July owing to the winter schedule of the airlines. The discontinuation of the flight directly affects the passengers travelling from Pune to Germany and other countries. Now, after an announcement to re-start service, passengers expressed happiness.
The six-day flight was discontinued till October-end, which is the end of the summer schedule of the airline.
“We confirm that Lufthansa will resume operations to Pune by October 28, the first flight leaving Pune on October 29. Flights are opened for bookings through travel agencies or www.lufthansa.com,” a Lufthansa spokesperson said.
Earlier, the flight from Pune departed at 1.55 am while the flight from Frankfurt arrived at 12:55 am. The flight was cancelled from December 2017 to January 3, 2018, and later the flight was resumed.
The flight, which started 10 years ago, was patronised by premium customers and had a good demand. Offering all business class seats when it first commenced operations, it later switched to a mixed class version of business and economy classes. The flight was the only direct European connection available to passengers from Pune and Western Maharashtra.
Sachin Jog, an IT professional and frequent traveller from Pune to Frankfurt, said, “The announcement of the flight is good news. Like me, other travellers will be happy as the service will resume.”
