Pune: Three men have been arrested by a team from Hadapsar police.
The trio had robbed cash, mobile phone and truck (used to carry loose cement) from its driver in the wee hours of Saturday.
The incident took place around 4.30 am at Mantarwadi Phata, on Katraj-Saswad Road. Shankar Bhimrao Kasbe (24), a resident of Warwade in Solapur district, was driving the truck when the three men in a SUV blocked his way. They beat him up and took away Rs 2,000 cash and his mobile phone. One of the robbers snatched the truck key and drove away the truck towards Saswad.
The driver reached the police around 5.30 am and informed them about the robbery. Senior Police Inspector Sunil Tambe, in-charge of Hadapsar police station, who was on night round duty, dispatched a team which caught the robbers within three hours.
The arrested accused have been identified as Nikhil Sagar Dhumal, Dipak Bharat Hirdepatil and Ravindrasingh Sardar Singh Rajawat. A case of robbery has been registered against them. The police have seized the truck, Rs 2,000 cash and the driver’s phone besides the SUV used in the crime. The total recovery is worth Rs 40 lakh.
The investigation team included API Sanjay Chavan, PSI Supriya Gawde, and policemen Lonkar, Dhende, Gosavi, Chawarkar and Chiwale.
