LokSabha 2019:It is a national duty to vote against Modi: Sharad Pawar

Pune: “It is the national duty of everybody to vote against Prime Minister Narendra Modi to wipe out BJP from power,” appealed Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar, on Saturday. He was addressing an election rally of Congress-NCP candidate from Pune Lok Sabha seat, Mohan Joshi.

Sonal Patel Datta, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary in-charge for Maharashtra; Congress leader Harshvardhan Patil; Pravin Gaikwad; President of SC/ST wing of Congress Nitin Raut; senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar, MP Vandana Chavan and senior leaders of Congress and NCP were present at the rally.

Pawar said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to cover up the failures of the government and criticising Gandhi and Pawar families. However, we are not concerned by such criticism. Earlier, they were criticising Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and now, they have included my name in the list.”

Pawar further said, “The BJP has failed to fulfil the promises made during 2014 Lok Sabha elections. So, they are diverting people’s attention from the main issues. They have a lot of money and they will use it in the election. The BJP government has destroyed farmers’ lives.”

Speaking at the rally, Raut said, “After BJP government came to power, attacks on Dalits and other minorities have increased manifold. Shockingly, the government is supporting the people behind such
attacks.”

Earlier, Joshi started his election campaign from Bhavani Mata temple at Bhavani Peth on Saturday. He conducted a roadshow in Bhavani Peth. During his roadshow, the Congress candidate criticised BJP candidate Girish Bapat.
