LokSabha 2019: Goans in Pune travel home to cast  their votes

PANAJI: Exercising their right to vote, Goans residing in Pune travelled back home on Tuesday to cast their vote in the third phase of 17th Lok Sabha elections.

Many young students and professionals from the neighbouring state took an overnight journey to Goa, just to cast their vote.

“Electing my representative is my right as well as responsibility. My examination is going on, but I had a gap of a few days before my next paper, so I came to vote. ,” a student of Modern College, Purva Marathe said.

“I had come to Goa a few days ago for my work. I decided to extend my stay until the day of polling. I understand how important is this duty as a citizen of India,” an IT professional Viraj Kamat said.

Cybersecurity professional Yogesh Damle said. “In the last five years, we have seen a dramatic change in India. We need a person with strong determination and a person who thinks nation first.”

Till the end of the day, there was a turnout of 75.17 per cent voters in North Goa and 78.64 in South Goa.
