Kamble said that demonetisation and wrong Goods and Services Tax (GST) policies of the Modi-led government had badly affected people and traders.

PIMPRI: Lokshahi Bachao Samiti, a front of 40 organisations including labour unions and social bodies, issued an appeal here, asking voters to defeat candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena grand alliance.

Leaders of the Lokshahi Bachao Samiti, who addressed a press conference here on Saturday, said that the Narendra Modi-led government has failed to fulfil its promises.

If the BJP government is elected again, the country will march towards dictatorship, the leaders alleged.

Those present at the press conference included the front’s Coordinator Manav Kamble, social activists Maruti Bhapkar, Dr Suresh Beri, Pratap Gurav, Vishal Jadhav, Ganesh Darade and Anil Roham.

Kamble said that demonetisation and wrong Goods and Services Tax (GST) policies of the Modi-led government had badly affected people and traders.

Maruti Bhapkar said that Shiv Sena’s sitting MP Shrirang Barne had promised to settle issues of the illegal constructions, Pavana dam water pipeline and the Hindustan Antibiotics Limited (HAL) but failed to resolve them. The BJP and Shiv Sena had come together for selfish vested interests, he alleged.

The 40 organisations in the Lokshahi Bachao Samiti include Maratha Seva Sangh, Sambhaji Brigade, Rashriya OBC Mahasangh, CPI(M), Aam Aadmi Party, Lok Sanghatana, Chhawa Maratha Yuva Mahasangh, Rashtriya Shramik Ekta Mahasangh, Bharatiya Minority Suraksha Mahasangh, OBC Sangharsha Mahasangh, Shahid Bhagat Singh Yuvamanch and Pimpri Chinchwad Laundry Sanghatana.
