LokSabha 2019: EC receives 717 complaints

Mumbai: The Election Commission has received 717 complaints of violation of Model Code of Conduct. All the complaints have been received on cVigil app. 

The Election Commission has developed a cVigil app for citizens to complain about the violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Maximum complaints registered are from Pune.

Till Thursday, there were 717 complaints registered on the app, out of which action has been initiated on 294 complaints.  Maximum complaints, around 230, were about posters and banners put up in the city without permission from the authority. 44 cases were registered for damage of property, 22 cases were of distribution of gifts or gift coupons. 18 cases were registered were about distribution of liquor and 38 cases of distribution of money. The Election Commission appealed to citizens to come forward and lodge complaints about violation of the Model Code of Conduct during the election.
