LokSabha 2019: Cong-NCP lack coordination?

Pune: It seems the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) lack coordination following the announcement of Lok Sabha elections. Both parties are still struggling to depute coordinators from each side for the smooth functioning of joint activities. While on the other hand, ruling alliance partners Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena appointed coordinators and started conducting meetings of party workers.

At present, both the alliance partners have not announced their respective candidate for Pune Lok Sabha constituency. However, the NCP has declared candidate in Maval, Shirur and Baramati and Shiv Sena has also declared candidates for Maval and Shirur. The NCP has started its election campaign with the top leaders but no Congress leader has been seen campaigning for NCP candidate.

Congress Party has given charge of Pune, Solapur and Madha Lok Sabha constituencies to senior Congress leader Harshvardhan Patil. But, the party has not officially announced that he will be also a coordinator of Congress-NCP coalition.

When asked about this, Ramesh Bagwe, Pune Congress President, said, “The party will depute coordinator for better coordination between Congress and NCP. However, we are currently waiting for the announcement of Pune LS candidate from the party. ” Chetan Tupe, city NCP Chief, said, “The party has done groundwork. Actually, both party presidents are meeting frequently and discussing the campaign work. Party will take the decision of appointment of coordinator after Congress announces LS candidate.”
