Leaders to seek funds for Nashik Phata-Wakad flyover

Pimpri: The local BJP leaders in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) urged Union Minister of Road Transport Nitin Gadkari to provide 50 per cent funds from the Central government for the proposed Nashik Phata-Wakad BRTS route flyover, grade separator and Elevated Road Project. This flyover will reduce the travel time from 45 minutes to 15 minutes.

The estimated cost for this project is Rs 300 crore. Claiming that this flyover would be crossing the national highway, local BJP leaders requested Gadkari to release 50 per cent funds from National Highway Authority.

This project will reduce the traffic problem of the IT Park in Hinjewadi. Currently, techies are facing daily traffic jams on the road due to the congested road.

BJP city president and MLA Laxman Jagtap and ruling party leader in PCMC Eknath Pawar presented a memorandum to Gadkari. The memorandum stated that the civic body is not in a position to bear the expenditure of this project. Jagtap shared that for the remaining 50 per cent, the local leaders will request the State government to provide funds through MIDC and 25 per cent amount will be borne by the civic body.

A two-and-a-half-kilometer long flyover will be constructed at Wakad. This will join Kaspate Vasti to Hinjawadi entrance.
The design of this bridge was prepared by PCMC.
