Labourer dies after falling from building in Hadapsar

The accused contractor has been booked under section 304 A (Causing death by negligence) of the IPC. 
 

Pune: A forty-two-year-old labourer died after falling off from a building at Hadapsar on Thursday. 

The police booked the contractor of the building for neglecting safety norms which led to the demise of the labourer. 

The deceased was identified as Vishal Thakur, a resident of Viman Nagar. The accident took place while Thakur was painting the walls of the building. He lost his balance and fell off from the building and suffered grievous injuries which led to his death. 

The accused contractor was identified as Vitthal Jamadar (43), a resident of Chandan Nagar. The contractor went absconding after the incident and is still at large. 

According to the information provided by the police, the whole incident occurred due to the negligence on the part of contractor who didn’t provide safety equipment like helmets and safety belts to the workers. The contractor didn’t even attach the safety net during the painting work. 

The police said that if safety measures were not violated, the life of the labourer could have been saved.
