Labour unions, bank staffers protest in city

Speaking about the protest, Maruti Shinde, President of Rajya Sarkari Karmachari Madhyavarti Sangathana, said that the employees have never received House Rent Allowance, travel allowance and other allowances in their salary and hence, they were on a protest.

Pune: Highlighting their demands, members of different labour orgnisations, political parties, bank workers and other departments staged a protest in the city on Tuesday.
 
Speaking about the protest, Maruti Shinde, President of Rajya Sarkari Karmachari Madhyavarti Sangathana, said that the employees have never received House Rent Allowance, travel allowance and other allowances in their salary and hence, they were on a protest.
 
Another protestor from the Postal Department said that the department is not positive about recruiting staff and hence, there is more workload.
 
Different organisations were protesting for various demands. Devidas Tuljapurkar, General Secretary of Maharashtra State Bank Employee Federation, said that 30,000 employees from 21 PSU banks, six private banks, four foreign banks and two regional banks and a district central cooperative bank participated in the strike.

“Bank employees are demanding pro-people banking policies and strengthening public sector banks to protect the hard earned money of the people. Bank employees have successfully worked to implement various government schemes which added to the workload on these employees. We are opposing privatisation of banks and action against corporate defaulters,” added Tuljapurkar.
