KIoSS students seek justice from commissioner of social welfare

We have informed  Additional Commissioner of Social Welfare Sadananda Patil about everything from overnight eviction of boys from the hostel to being locked outside the lobby without their belongings, compelling them to stay in the open

Pune: After struggling for over a month, students of Karve Institute of Social Service (KIoSS) have approached Commissioner of Social Welfare office to seek justice.

Around 150 participants, including alumini and students of KIoSS had taken out a rally from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar statue near Pune Station to  Commissionerate Of Social Welfare’s office on Saturday.

“We have put across the issues the students have been facing.

“We have informed  Additional Commissioner of Social Welfare Sadananda Patil about everything from overnight eviction of boys from the hostel to being locked outside the lobby without their belongings, compelling them to stay in the open,” said Sandip Barve, an alumnus of KIoSS.

“Patil assured us that he will probe into the matter and take necessary steps within two days as per the reports,” said Barve.

“I have asked Regional Deputy Commissioner of Pune to investigate the matter after which action will be taken,” said Additional Commissioner of Social Welfare, Sadanand Patil.

At present the students are facing a case filed by the institute in the civil court, the hearing of which is slated for Monday.
