Pune: Khed taluka has become the first taluka in the State where all gram panchayats have gone paperless, said Pune district Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Suraj Mandhare.

As per information given by Mandhare, Maharashtra has decided to make gram panchayats smart and is encouraging them to adopt information technology to reduce the use of papers in gram panchayat offices.

Under the initiative, gram panchayat officials are encouraged to go paperless and use technology to share files and documents. ‘Aaple sarkar’ portal has played a major role in digitisation at gram panchayat level.

“In all, there are 162 gram panchayats in Khed taluka and now all of them are well-equipped to handle technology tools and go paperless. Technology and software are being used by gram panchayat officials, which has helped in increasing efficiency,” added Mandhare.
